Clarins’ venture into the world of chatbots began with a clear two-part goal: explore untapped customers and conversate and engage with new consumers. To this end, Clarins wanted to diversify its digital marketing for the launch of its new Double Serum. In collaboration with Isobar Taiwan, Clarins’ Beauty Chat was launched to actively target ads to potential customers with the help of Facebook user data insights. Their campaign was designed to deliver relevant content to Messenger users, lead them to the Clarins chatbot to download product coupons and persuade them to make in-store purchases. They optimized the chatbot’s communication to provide consumers with a helper rather than an advertisement. As a result, Clarins was able to reach 3 million consumers and convert 32% of users who downloaded coupons, which quintupled their new customers. This gave the company a significant boost in visibility and helped them realize a 188% increase in product sales.
